Lake, River & Ocean Monitoring

bloom & bust

Toxic algae blooms force beach and lake closures during our precious summer months. HABs release toxins which make water unsafe for swimming, causing skin rashes, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems (and sometimes death) in people and pets. Dog deaths are relatively common due to a combination of ingestion and exposure. These closures affect coastal and freshwater beaches nationwide, impacting recreation and local economies.

It’s becoming more important to not only monitor for toxic blooms, but to predict their onset so as to prevent unnecessary harm. Monitoring agencies utilize Phytoxigene’s kits to prevent catastrophe and ensure that our recreational waterways are safe for everyone, especially children and pets.
