Paralytic Shellfish Toxin Detection

Paralytic Shellfish Toxins (PST) are produced by certain dinoflagellates found in marine environments and impact aquaculture operations globally. Predicting or identifying toxin producers is essential for managing operations involving shellfish or marine species. Proactive identification and management of a potential toxin event can prevent closures.

Phytoxigene’s DinoDTec kit is designed for the screening of environmental samples to identify potential blooms of PSP (paralytic shellfish poisoning) from saxitoxin producing dinoflagellates. Detection and quantification of sxtA in HAB events has been correlated with saxitoxin uptake in shellfish.
